The Women’s Universe Tour: Celebrating Women in Sports and Society in Toledo This Weekend

The Women’s Universe Tour will be this weekend, May 18 and 19, at Parque de la Vega, Paseo de Sisebuto, which will be its XXVI stop since it started 7 years ago with the aim of making visible the successes of the women in the world of sports, as well as highlighting their role in today’s society.

In this outdoor sports festival, all those who come can enjoy more than 20 activities programmed by the different Federations, such as archery, golf, football, athletics, paddle tennis, tennis, mountain and climbing, cycling, rowing , triathlon, volleyball, badminton… as well as exhibitions by the Olympic kata champion Sandra Sánchez or boxing by Laura Barceló. Three new disciplines are debuting in Toledo, such as golf, cycling and paddle tennis, which currently have many followers.

Other types of rhythmic and artistic gymnastics exhibitions are also planned; or karate by the Territorial Federations and local Clubs. Renowned athletes such as the aforementioned Sandra Sánchez will pass through this Tour; the parakarate Isabel Fernández; Olympic figure skater Sara Hurtado; local boxer Laura Barceló; the middle distance runner Silvia Rey; and the pelotari Silvia Comendador.

The Women’s Universe Tour launches three new disciplines

There will be no shortage of fitness classes for seniors and for all audiences, as well as the Zumba masterclass by Jessica Expósito, who will be on the central stage on both Saturday and Sunday.

In addition, on Sunday the solidarity race ‘Toledo in shape for equality’ is planned, a solidarity march whose proceeds from the sale of race numbers will go to the Apacama Association. -Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
