The story of Carlos Garrido, the former TC pilot who was beaten to death | Commotion in Mar del Plata

Carlos Garrido, a 65-year-old former pilot, was murdered with two blows to the head in his home in the town of El Boquerón, near Mar del Plata.

According to the local press, the body of the former Turismo Carretera runner was found on Monday night, inside the house, located at route 88 kilometer 21.5, within the municipality of General Pueyrredón. About 400 meters from that place, Garrido’s car was found, a Citroën C4, which was set on fire, they believe, intentionally.

The murder was discovered when the property’s landlord called 911 and stated that he had been attacked by intruders and that, in that context, he had lost consciousness. When he recovered, he assured that he could see Garrido meters from the access door, already lifeless.

After the arrival of the Buenos Aires Police, Scientific Police experts and forensic doctors attended the scene, who confirmed the death of the former Chevrolet idol. In a first inspection, they noticed that the Garrido corpse had two severe skull traumas, one in the occipital region and another on the face.

For his part, the landlord had injuries to one of his hands, which is why he was transferred to the Interzonal General Acute Hospital (HIGA) in Mar del Plata, as reported by site 0223. The 35-year-old man was admitted to the health center with police guard. “Based on the initial account that he gave upon the arrival of the police, his testimony will be essential,” official sources told that medium.

Prosecutor Alejandro Pellegrinelli and the eighth district police station intervene in the case. Detectives look for clues that lead to the perpetrator or perpetrators of the crime. According to the newspaper La Capital, they do not rule out that the person who attacked Garrido is close.

A career life

From a very young age, Garrido, born in Mar del Plata, had shown his passion for cars and at the age of 18 he was racing in regional categories aboard a Chevrolet. His greatest brilliance came between 1986 and 1988 when he won three consecutive titles in the Class A Southwest TC.

According to the SoloTC site, Garrido’s arrival at TC occurred in 1987 in a race at the Buenos Aires racetrack. That day he came in 12th place.

The man from Mar del Plata spent more than a decade in the TC, although with some interruptions, and went on to win two races, both in 1997. A year later he would leave the category.

Co-driver of Roberto Mouras on two occasions, 158 races in TC with five podiums, experience in Top Race…All these experiences led Garrido to serve as sports commissioner of the ACTC in recent years.
