For the first time in the history of the franchise, the first pick went to the Atlanta Hawks, with a less than three percent chance of winning the lottery. The second choice went to the Washington Wizards, the third to the Houston Rockets, the fourth to the San Antonio Spurs, and the fifth to the Detroit Pistons.
Boston “Celtics” represented by Kristaps Porzingis will choose their new addition last in the first round, while Dāvja Bertānas “Hornets” got the sixth pick in the first round.
According to ESPN forecasts, the first two places in the upcoming draft are allocated to the French – forward Zachary Rizacher and power forward Alexander Sar. The third position is currently allocated to the University of Connecticut center Donovan Klingen, and the fourth – to the Kentucky “Wildcats” player Rob Dillingham. In the fifth and sixth place are again Europeans – Lithuanian Mats Buzelis, who grew up in the USA, and Serbian defender Nikola Topičs. Reed Shepherd from the Kentucky Wildcats is also expected to be drafted high.
