The Citizens Win 2-0, Champion Title Closer

Manchester City managed to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Premier League. The Citizens are getting closer to the title.

Spurs vs Man City took place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Wednesday (15/4/2024) early morning WIB. The first half ended goalless.

Man City was only able to score a goal in the second half. It was Erling Haaland who scored a brace to bring his team closer to the title.

Man City is at the top of the standings with 88 points and Arsenal is in second place with 86 points. The championship title is determined in the last week of the season.

For Tottenham, this defeat meant they failed to win a ticket to the Champions League. Spurs’ points can no longer catch up with Aston Vila who has 68 points.

The Course of the Match

The hosts threatened first in the fifth minute. Rodrigo Bentancur fired a shot on the edge of the penalty box, but the ball was saved by Ederson Moraes.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg made a poor sweep in the penalty box. The ball was then struck by Phil Foden’s shot, lucky for Spurs because Guglielmo Vicario made a brilliant save in the 16th minute.

Dejan Kulusveski got a golden opportunity. From close range he fired, but Ortega was still able to block the ball in the 71st minute.

Son Heung-min wasted a golden opportunity in the 85th minute when facing Ortega one on one. The ball shot by the South Korean player was still blocked by Ortega’s foot.

Man City was awarded a penalty after Jeremy Doku was punished by Pedro Prro. Haaland stepped up as executor and gave City a 2-0 lead in injury time.
