Châtelaillon-Plage stands out not only for its sunny beaches and its festive atmosphere, but also for its commitment to sport. Big news for surfing and boardsports aficionados, in the summer of 2024, the high-end board manufacturer UWL is moving its historic workshops from Angoulins to Marennes. The “future of surfing” will now be played out here, in a vast area of ​​1,800 m² located on the Route des Waves, just before the island of Oléron.

While 90% of surfboards are currently manufactured in Asia, UWL remains faithful to its values ​​by producing its boards in France, tailor-made, adapted to the size of the surfers and their specific surfing zone.

Under the name “Shapers Club” we will be able to manufacture 3,000 boards per year. More than just a board manufacturer, the Shapers Club will also become a meeting and sharing place for surfing enthusiasts, offering a breathtaking view of the workshop, a skatepark, a training room dedicated to surfing, a coworking and a snack bar with concert hall.

The passage of the Flame on May 24 in the Charente department

Olympiad enthusiasts will have the opportunity toadmire the passing of the flame on May 24, 2024. 88 Charente athletes will take turns crossing the department on routes accessible to the public in four towns in the region (Barbezieux, Cognac, Confolens, Ruffec) and two sites reserved for schools (Le Chambon and the Théâtre des Bouchauds).

Final stage of this Charente passage, the Flame will cross Angoulême, with 30 porters who will take turns over more than 6 kilometers, before a special finale on the Magélis square in Angoulême around 7:00 p.m.
