The tournament dedicated to Canestrello and the city of Taggia organized by Olimpia Basket is back next weekend in its third edition.
Eight rookie category teams (2012-2013 years) from Liguria and Piedmont will compete in the qualifying matches on Saturday and in the finals on Sunday morning at the Ruffini gym in Taggia and the Flower Market in Bussana.
This year there’s great news: on Saturday evening at 8pm all the kids will be involved in the All-Star Games: dunk competitions, skills courses, shooting competitions and the final match between the selected athletes, an NBA-style show with music and prizes dedicated, which will be held in the gym of the Ruffini school in Taggia and which will obviously be open to the public.
The tournament will take place during the MediTaggiasca city event organized by the Tourism Department of the Municipality of Taggia and which will include a space for the grand prize-giving ceremony of the small champions of the tournament, on Sunday morning at 12.30, after the parade for the streets that connect ‘U Quarté’ to the stage in Piazza Cavour.
“A tournament that wants to involve the city again – commented president Nino Ioppolo – and that wants to grow more and more in the coming years, with the intention of slowly transforming it into an international event. It will also be an opportunity to promote local companies and those that support us, giving the over 100 athletes a bag containing gadgets, jars of pesto, seedlings and of course…. canestrelli”.
Here are the participating teams: CUS Genova, Blu Ponente Basket Diano Marina, Futura Genova, Oleggio Junior Basket (No), Polisportiva Santa Caterina Genova, Tigullio Sport Team Santa Margherita (Ge), Le Volpi Nere Volpiano (To) and obviously Olimpia Basketball.
