The Americans did not let themselves be taken by surprise, they scored six goals against the Germans

The hockey players of the United States of America clearly defeated Germany 6:1 at the World Championship in Ostrava and scored points for the first time in the second game of the tournament. The reigning world vice-champions, on the other hand, did not follow up on Friday’s win. With a goal and an assist, Michael Kesselring and Johnny Gaudreau participated in the victory of the Americans in the duel of Group B.

While Lyon got a second chance in the USA goal, Niederberger appeared in the German lineup instead of Grubauer. It was he who scored the first difficult save, but managed to knock out Caufield’s shot with concrete. Lyon, on the other hand, was helped by a post in the 7th minute.

The Americans then overcame an early slump to take the lead in the 13th minute when Tkachuk tipped in Kesselring’s shot. Niederberger subsequently scored two good saves, but capitulated for the second time in the 18th minute. After a demonstration bluff, he was overtaken by an active Kesselring.

At the beginning of the second period, Kastner could have reduced, but Lyon stopped at the goal. Apparently, he got injured and had to be replaced by Augustine, who was immediately checked by Ehliz.

However, the reigning junior world champion managed to deal with the German break. Shortly after the halfway point of the match, Peterka showed his speed, but even he could not overcome Augustine.

Subsequently, Ugbekile was expelled and the Americans quickly took advantage of the power play. Gaudreau prevailed with a prompt stop.

However, the Germans still managed to score, after a jam in front of the goal, Ehliz reduced it. Three seconds before the end of the second half, defender Hughes returned the three-goal lead to the overseas players with a precise shot.

The Americans then comfortably led the game to the winning end and added two more goals. Zegras prevailed in the power play, then Eyssimont also scored. Niederberger protected the Germans from further conceded goals.
