The Austrian contingent at AS Roma will be increased by one starting next season. ÖFB team defender Verena Hanshaw signed a two-year contract with the Italian capital club. Roma, with whom Laura Feiersinger is also under contract, announced this on their homepage on Wednesday.
“AS Roma has developed into a top European club and I like the way they play football,” said the 30-year-old on the club website. “I was very impressed that the club showed such interest in me. “For Roma sports director Betty Bavagnoli, the Austrian is the ideal addition to the squad: “A left-footed central defender is what our team was missing.”
For Hanshaw, the move is also a farewell after 14 years in Germany. The defender, who began her adult career at USC Landhaus in Vienna, has played in German leagues since 2010. Hanshaw has been at Eintracht Frankfurt for the past six years. Therefore it is also “the right time for a change”.
