Success at the Philippe-Marchal Challenge: Judo Clubs Shine with Nearly 700 Competitors

Perfectly organized by the judo club, like every May 8, the Philippe-Marchal challenge saw an impressive number of judokas compete throughout the day on the tatami mats installed at the Robert-Gourdon gymnasium. Indeed, nearly 700 little judokas from 35 friendly clubs from Gard but also from Hérault and Bouches-du-Rhône, aged 4 years for the youngest, who put on a kimono with it, for the first time year, the establishment of a discovery competition for adults in leisure judo.

The four teachers, Patrice Galvez, Frédéric Floret, Lorenzo Picchi and Gaëlle Possamai, with the twenty club volunteers, had the pleasure of recording the arrival of the latter’s sister, Stéphanie Possamai. Bronze medalist at the Beijing Olympic Games, multiple world and European champion, she came with her trainer Dominique Marty, 7th dan, to attend the fights of this challenge.

Each judoka received a medal from the organizers, in the presence of Mohamed Touhami, elected to sports in the City. At the end of the day, the best clubs were designated and it was the Gard judo club and the Vauvert judo club which finished perfectly equal in points and therefore jointly won this Philippe-Marchal challenge. A superb day of sport that everyone, organizers, competitors and parents, greatly enjoyed.
