He was perhaps the sensational player of the past season: Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart. The start of the season was particularly brilliant for the Guinean. After eight match days, the striker had scored an incredible 14 goals – a Bundesliga record. In the five top European leagues, only Cristiano Ronaldo has been able to top that with 15 goals.
At the end of the season, Guirassy was able to double his goal tally to 28 goals and was only beaten in the race for the top scorer award by Harry Kane, who scored 36 times. VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß finds it understandable that his protégé is considering a move. “I know that he feels very comfortable here and that he is thinking very carefully about whether to take this step,” he said last week. “But I also think it is legitimate for him to do it if there is something on the table. If the biggest clubs in Europe come knocking, then he has to think about it.”
Strike partner Deniz Undav, whose future at VfB is also unclear, wants his teammate to stay. “I’m working on him all the time. But he doesn’t let us see his cards. Everyone knows that it’s very, very difficult to keep hold of a striker like that.”

As the “Bild” reports that Guirassy’s contract, which runs until 2026, contains an exit clause of 18 million euros. What sounds like a real bargain could end up costing BVB significantly more in the overall package.
Because of the low transfer fee, the Guinean is expecting a huge signing bonus. According to “Bild”, this is said to be over ten million euros. Such a bonus is quite common in the industry.
In addition, the 28-year-old would expect a significantly higher salary from a transfer. At VfB, this is said to be around three million euros. All in all, Guirassy’s services could cost Dortmund around 50 million euros, according to “Bild”.

It is a costly affair as Dortmund also wants to keep the loaned Ian Maatsen and Jadon Sancho. A commitment by Guirassy would probably also depend on possible departures that would bring money into the coffers.
