Season halali for the violets: After the disappointing but meaningless 66:79 in Hamburg and the previously established 14th place in the basketball Bundesliga, the players of BG Göttingen are about to say goodbye quickly.

Göttingen – On Tuesday (6 p.m.) the end of the season will take place in “Monro’s Park” with the annual jersey auction, and there will also be a meal with the sponsors before most of the foreign players say goodbye to their homeland on Thursday.

Will we see at least some of them again? Open as always after the end of the season.

While the players spread out in all directions, the work of coach Olivier Foucart and assistant Kenneth Desloovere continues. The “exit meetings” (final discussions) with the players have largely been completed. Who goes, who stays?

It is clear that Mathis Mönninghoff and Zach Ensminger still have contracts. Janis Jünemann signed as a young professional. The departure of Australian Grant Anticevich (all 34 BBL games like Mönninghoff and Hume) to New Zealand is also certain.

Who was recommended or not recommended by the other players?

    Die Imports

Umoja Gibson: Best scorer (14.4 points/average). Second best three-point rate (38.3%). Second longest operating time (27:04 min.). Fast, agile, but sometimes too stubborn. Candidate for next season.

David DeJulius: 20 games, replaced Deondre Burns. Most usage time (27.07 min/cut). Second best scorer (13.6). Stepped into the breach when first-person shooter Burns was “gone” (far too late). Like all BGers with good and bad games – like everyone else, he also lacked consistency. To hold or not to hold – opinions differ on him. If he hasn’t already agreed somewhere else.

Bodie Hume: First and best candidate for next season! Best three-point rate (40%). 30 points against Crailsheim in the first BBL game. After that, he often went underground, but had a lot of good games in the second half of the season. If he hasn’t promised somewhere else long ago – definitely keep it!

Fedor Zugic: 20:55 min./average playing time. More than before with the title with Ulm. Experts believe that the Montenegrin is stagnating in his development. Will soon be flying to the USA for the NBA draft.

Karlis Silins: The Latvian center started strong, but lost more and more at the end when the opponents “read” him. (Too) many misplays, ball losses. As a big man but a good three-point shooter (36.3%).

    The German players

Osaro Jürgen Rich: Has shown himself to be a good fighter with an average playing time of 13:52 minutes. Recommended to stay. The price/performance ratio should be right. Leaves his future still open. Peter Hemschemeier: Again, it didn’t matter. Only filled one of the six German positions. Philipp Hartwich: His height (2.18 m) is his biggest pound. After a long injury in Würzburg, 31 games this season. Loses balls, often too jittery. Weak free throw rate (62.5 percent). It will be difficult to find replacements for his money. (haz/gsd)
