DThe Schremser Beers continue to be in top form at the start of the season and have now also won away from the Trnava Angels. The first game was narrowly lost.

The long trip to Slovakia was on the agenda for Schremser Beers at the weekend. The second team, the Trnava Angels, has also been playing in the 2nd Bundesliga East since the previous one, where the Beers arrived with a big chest from the good start to the season two weeks ago and also with a few fans. That paid off. The people of Granitstadt showed good performances again and also got a win in the second game.

In the first game, however, things didn’t go according to plan after the four-hour journey and only a short warm-up time. Starting pitcher Thomas Rzepa had a solid performance, keeping the game open for five innings. Despite the strong Angels pitcher, the Beers briefly took a 3-1 lead. However, inconsistent field play and faulty defense ensured that Trnava came up quickly and managed to turn things around. Michael Meindl took over on the mound, but was no longer able to avert defeat. In the end, the better batting performance decided the home team – 4:9.

For the second match, manager Hannes Filler sent Jerry Swanson to the throwing mound. And he seamlessly continued his great performance in his season debut, kept the young Angels squad in check with his varied throwing repertoire and only left the first two batters on base. After that it was over. Offensively, the Schremsers got off to a perfect start. Four runs in the first inning and another in the second gave them a 5-0 lead, which grew to 7-0 after seven innings.

The next road trip is already scheduled for Pentecost Sunday – it’s going to Wiener Neustadt to see the second team of the Diving Ducks.
