Ronen Ginzburg named head coach of Kawasaki Brave Thunders

Kawasaki’s vision for basketball matches Ginzburg’s ideas

On May 24, the Kawasaki Brave Thunders announced that Ronen Ginsburg will be the new head coach for the 2024-25 season.

Ginzburg, 61, is a former professional basketball player from Israel. After retiring, he served as a manager in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, and then played in the Czech Republic and Ukraine. He also served as the manager of the Czech Republic national team from 2013 to 2023. Ginzburg’s approach to team basketball, which emphasizes defense and excels in fast-paced offense rather than relying on individuals, matches the basketball that the Kawasaki Brave Thunders aspire to, which led to this offer.

Ginzburg commented through the club: “The reason I decided to join Kawasaki Brave Thunders is because I believe this club is full of ambition to succeed. I was able to find a well-organized club with a great history and ambitious management with lofty goals. After the success I have experienced in Europe, it is a challenge for me to create a new team in Japan and lead it to the highest stage once again. What I value most is that all players and team members give 100 percent, in order to make the club successful. We will play high-speed offensive and defensive plays and attractive basketball, and I promise that all players will do their best for the club and to win.”
