Huge talent Victor Wembanyama was named the best rookie of the season in the NBA. The 20-year-old Frenchman received 99 out of 99 votes for first place, making him only the sixth NBA debutant to achieve this.
In his first season as a professional for the San Antonio Spurs, Wembanyama didn’t set a record in any of the most important statistical categories, but he had average values across all categories that are second to none. The 2.24 meter tall athlete averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks and 1.2 stolen balls in each game.
“This means a lot to me,” he said when the election results were announced on US television. Selected journalists are entitled to vote. Chet Holmgren from the Oklahoma City Thunder came in second and Brandon Miller from the Charlotte Hornets came third.
