According to our information, Ruddy Buquet, the referee of the Metz-Rennes match (2-3) last Saturday, requested in writing that the red card he inflicted on Georges Mikautadze, the Lorraine center forward, be withdrawn. During the match, he sent off the player who had not done much to deserve such a sanction. Buquet had however reviewed the images after intervention by the VAR, but had confirmed his decision…
After some reflection, he finally realized his mistake and asked for the red card to be rescinded. Meeting on Tuesday, the LFP disciplinary committee will obviously follow it and cancel this sanction.
