Rafael Nadal’s Schedule Still Up in the Air as Roland-Garros Approaches

When will Rafael Nadal enter the Philippe-Chatrier court to take on the challenge of Alexander Zverev? Two days before the start of hostilities at Roland-Garros (May 26-June 9), the question remains open, but one possibility has already been ruled out: the shock of the 1st round will not take place on Sunday. The tournament organization thus communicated the “Sunday Start” matches without giving their precise times. Carlos Alcaraz and Andrey Rublev will notably be on deck among the title contenders, as will Stan Wawrinka and Andy Murray who will face each other from the start in an expected duel of veterans and former winners of Grand Slam tournaments (three each) .

Six French people will start their fortnight in the men’s draw: Ugo Humbert against Lorenzo Sonego, Corentin Moutet against Nicolas Jarry, Harold Mayot against Sebastian Korda, Alexandre Müller against Luca Nardi, Terence Atmane against Sebastian Ofner and Richard Gasquet against Borna Coric. As for these ladies, Caroline Garcia against a qualified or drafted player and Chloé Paquet against Diana Schnaider will also be mobilized, as will the former world number 1 Naomi Osaka, who will face the Italian Lucia Bronzetti.

Rafael Nadal will therefore take the stage either Monday or Tuesday, for what could well be his last match at Roland-Garros. Will he play in the middle of the afternoon or in a “night session”? This is the other big unknown, even if we know the Mallorcan’s preference for meetings under the sun.
