Paris 2024 Olympic Games: where and at what time to see the flame in Indre and in Châteauroux, the route on May 27

After a day across Vienne and a celebration at Futuroscope on Saturday, the flame resumes its advance in Indre this Monday, May 27, with a view to lighting the cauldron in Châteauroux. In this department, 85 people were asked to participate in the relay.

Le Blanc, a village crossed by the Creuse, and its inhabitants, will witness the flight of the flame from 9:20 a.m. (arrival at 9:59 a.m.), in front of Les Ménigouttes college. The finish is located at the Town Hall. The relay will then progress between Cuzion to Baraize (10:30 a.m.-10:50 a.m.), passing in particular via the brand new Himalayan footbridge which crosses the Creuse. The finish will be held at the Place de Montcocu.

Valençay Castle, highlight

Departing from the George Sand high school in La Châtre (12:05 p.m. – 12:43 p.m.), the flame will conduct a wide tour of the town, before reaching the town hall via Rue Nationale and closing the Place du Marché relay. In Buzançais (1:13 p.m.-1:33 p.m.) the route consists of a straight line between the Collège des Sablons and the Place du Général-de-Gaulle.

Then in Issoudun, the flame, departing from the Diderot college (3:31 p.m.-4:26 p.m.), will follow a wide loop in order to create passages in front of the town hall and the 12th century belfry. After which, the visit to Valençay (4:43 p.m. to 5:03 p.m.) will mark one of the highlights of the day, the relay setting off from the courtyard of the castle, a Renaissance masterpiece, before crossing its gardens.

Finally, it is in Châteauroux (5:55 p.m. – 7:20 p.m.) that the flame will complete its 17th stage. The relay will begin near the Notre-Dame de Déols abbey (located on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela), and will continue with an exploration of the city center.

The shooting in the spotlight… and the cauldron lit at the sports plain

The towns of Châteauroux and Déols are home to the National Sports Shooting Center, host of the Olympic and Paralympic events of the discipline next summer, FFTir licensees will ensure a collective relay at Place de la République.

After which, the flame will cross the Notre-Dame church, renowned for its bell tower more than 50 meters high.

Finally, it is at the departmental sports plain, a 7.5 hectare multidisciplinary complex, that the end of the course festivities will be held, including the arrival of the last torchbearer and the lighting of the cauldron (7:20 p.m.). However, the celebration site, free and open to all, will be waiting for you from 3:30 p.m. On site, various activities and shows will allow you to wait pleasantly while waiting for the flame.
