Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Anne Hidalgo’s fed up, who denounces the “hard to enjoy” people who criticize the Games

In the municipal council, Anne Hidalgo, who had actively participated in 2017 in obtaining the 2024 Olympic Games, expressed her “fed up with all those struggling to enjoy who do not at all want that ‘we can celebrate something together’. “Open your eyes and ears and let yourself be surprised, because it’s going to be an absolutely exceptional moment,” the mayor said to the skeptics.

For the socialist mayor, “popular fervor” is “rising in an extremely powerful way” with the journey of the Olympic flame, which has crisscrossed the country since May 8. “This popular enthusiasm will come and go in Paris,” assured Anne Hidalgo.

Present at his side, the prefect of police, Laurent Nuñez, has been working hard in recent weeks to make Parisians understand the different security perimeters in force ahead of the opening ceremony, an unprecedented nautical parade on the Seine, and around the different sites. Added to these localized traffic restrictions are Parisians’ fears of not being able to move easily due to transport congestion.

A government poster campaign, branded by the organizing committee (Cojo) and deployed in the Paris metro, encourages teleworking “when possible”. The deputy for trade (PCF) Nicolas Bonnet-Oulaldj castigated this campaign, deploring the “negative stories” to say “above all, do not come to the Olympics”.

With 15 million visitors and 3.5 billion viewers expected, “all our Parisians, all our traders, the soul of Paris, will be in the spotlight” and will remind us that “Paris is the world capital of gastronomy and fashion,” he insisted. So on June 23, during Fashion Week, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour “is going to do a special event in Paris,” Place Vendôme, “because she considers that Paris is the beating heart of fashion, and that there are the Olympics,” he highlighted.
