Novara Judoka Compete in A2 Championships: Mixed Results for Representatives

Novara – Qualifying for the A2 Judo Championships took place on Saturday 27 April at the Leini arena: five representatives from Novara.

Good performance for Simon Vestali who in the 66 kg sees the Italian pass vanish in the last match, same fate for his brother Marco who in the 81 kg does not go beyond the final 3rd/5th place, in the 73 kg Mathieu Sempio is not at all during the day, compared to the last races, just think that in the junior qualification he had deserved first place. The Moneta brothers finished in third place in the 90 and 100 kg respectively. There is still a long way to go for them, but they certainly don’t lack the determination and desire to train.

Coach Flavio Vestali explains that there is certainly some regret “not being able to qualify for an ‘absolute title’ for the second year in a row, but we knew that fielding young athletes in their first experience would be a difficult undertaking. Also on Saturday, the CONI Trophy reserved for the rookie class A took place where our standard bearer Mattia Di Giorgio took home a good fifth place in his first experience in the competitive class”.

The next commitments at Centro Judo Novara will be the Cadet and Junior Grand Prix of Genoa and on the same day a children’s trophy in Mede (Pavia).
