Novara-Fiorenzuola: technical playout tests

Last game of the regular season at Piolawith a decent audience present to chase a direct salvation which, until a few months ago, seemed impossible and today would be achievable in the event of a victory for the Azzurri, but only if this were to coincide with the draws of Pergolettese and Pro Sesto.

A few minutes before the kick-off, a bouquet of flowers is placed on the straight in memory of Paolo Favergiotti, a historic fan who passed away suddenly a few days ago and who would certainly have been present today.

The match starts surprisingly without visiting fans, which is very strange to me because in the event of victory, Fiorenzuola, already condemned to play in the play-outs, would have the considerable possibility of playing the return match within friendly walls and furthermore the opponent of the moment is very likely to be Novara.

In the Curva Nord, however, the blue ultras are always present as usual, huddling behind the banner Nuares and that despite a truly difficult season, they never failed to provide their support to both the Piola than away.

The atmosphere heats up right from the start, with Novara attacking under the north. In the 15th minute the Canadian Ongaro hit the post after a good move, while in the 25th minute the Italian-Danish Urso took the lead.

All this while in the meantime a couple of fans entered the away section without any scarf, flag or banner attributable to organized Rossoneri support.

The first half of the game then ends with the Italians doubling their lead, again scored by a very inspired Urso who does what he wants on his wing, so much so that he risks scoring a hat-trick at the start of the second half.

Little to report about the second half other than the chant “Favergiotti uno di noi”, followed by a long applause that involves the whole stadium and it is beautiful how the curve wanted to remember his figure, even though he was not part of it: he certainly was a character that many have had the opportunity to meet, given the countless trips across the length and breadth of Italy and the common love, the common passion undoubtedly deserved a tribute.

The match on the pitch ends 2-0 for Novara, a result that is not enough for direct salvation given the simultaneous victory of the competitors, therefore the same will be decided in the play-outs, through two other matches again against Fiorenzuola, with the first leg scheduled at Pavesi Velodrome between two weeks and the return to Piola seven days later, an occasion in which it would be nice to find a presence in the stands also by the Rossoneri fans.
