The ‘Kane Jinx’: Harry Kane’s Title Drought Continues at Bayern Munich

Harry Kane landed in Munich hoping to get the first title of his career. I went to a club, Bayern, that had won 11 consecutive Leagues; to a club, Bayern, that had not been ‘dry’ of titles for more than a decade… but the ‘Kane jinx’ is still valid.

The English attacker continues with his record at zero after an unfortunate season from Bayern. But the ‘jinx Kane’ became even more twisted this Saturday. The Bavarian team started winning in Hoffenheim 0-2, but ended up losing 4-2 in a disastrous second half. Without Kane on the pitch (he is still out due to injury), Bayern finished third, which means they will not play in the Super Cup; which, in turn, means that Kane, at club level, will not be able to win any titles until at least May 2025.

Let us remember that, in Germany, The Super Cup is played by the League champion (Bayer) and the Cup champion (Bayer or Kaiserslautern). The turn passes, if Bayer wins, to the runner-up in the League, so this coming summer’s Super Cup would, in any case, be between Leverkusen and Stuttgart (second in the Bundesliga).

The only option that Harry Kane, at 30 years old, has to win their first title is next summer, since the Euro Cup in Germany wait for England. But, at the club level, Kane will have to continue waiting for another year.
