Niners Chemnitz Secure BBL Play-Off Semi-Final Spot with Convincing Win Over Rasta Vechta

In the duel for the BBL play-off semi-finals, Rasta Vechta already found themselves 1:2 behind against Europe Cup winners Chemnitz, and in game four the balance of power became clear once again.

With a comfortable 84:67 (44:26) win over newly promoted Rasta Vechta, the Chemnitz team won the best-of-five quarter-final series 3:1. After a defeat in the second duel, the guests now managed their second victory in a row.

The foundation for this was laid by a convincing first half by the Niners, who were already 18 points ahead at halftime and ultimately held on to this lead without any problems. “The intensity is very good,” Niners guard Dominic Lockhart said at halftime on “Dyn,” adding that it was “a question of strength. Whoever plays more intensely will win.”

Alba Berlin is waiting

It was the Niners with their top scorer Jeff Garrett (19 points), although Vechta came a little closer in the meantime. Chemnitz had failed in the quarterfinals against Bonn last year (0:3).

Now Alba Berlin is waiting in the round of the last four. The former series champion surprisingly easily won three duels against the Telekom Baskets Bonn.

For Vechta, on the other hand, a great season as a newly promoted team ends in the quarter-finals. In the final minutes of the game, the fans, all in orange, honored the season’s performance with a standing ovation that lasted for minutes.
