After Serge Gnabry’s 99 percent failure, Bayern stars Musiala and Sané are also worried about the European Championship. How does national coach Nagelsmann react to the news from Munich?

Julian Nagelsmann won’t like to hear that at all. Two weeks before the start of the national soccer team’s preparation for the home European Championship in Weimarer Land in Thuringia, Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel sent the national coach unpleasant news about the condition of top players Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané.

The two physically ailing offensive players will no longer be used in FC Bayern Munich’s last two games of the season against VfL Wolfsburg and TSG Hoffenheim. In addition, attacker Serge Gnabry is “out anyway” after tearing his thigh muscle in Munich, Tuchel said on Saturday. “It will be super tight with Serge for the European Championships.” It begins for the DFB team on June 14th in Munich with the opening game against Scotland.

Musiala reveals: He has been playing with knee pain for months

On Saturday it became clear how serious Musiala’s knee problems are. The 21-year-old made people sit up and take notice with alarming words after the defeat against Real Madrid and Bayern’s missed entry into the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund. “I’ve been playing with painkillers and injections for the last few months.” He also felt the pain in his knee at the end of the game in Madrid, so Tuchel had to replace him.

“Jamal also signaled to us that this has become a hindrance for him since the game against Arsenal. This irritation on the outside of the knee, which hurts a lot. That’s why Jamal definitely won’t be there against Wolfsburg – and probably not in the last one either game,” Tuchel reported.

Tuchel to Sané: What does Nagelsmann accept?

Winger Sané has only been able to play and train to a limited extent for weeks due to problems and pain in his pubic bone. “Leroy is currently undergoing pain treatment again,” said Tuchel, who was unable to make a European Championship forecast. “Leroy will do everything for the European Championships. But I don’t know Julian’s plans, what Julian will accept and how much freedom he will give Leroy for treatments and so on.”

Nagelsmann will announce the European Championship squad next Thursday in Berlin. Musiala and Sané are normally included in the squad, which can consist of a maximum of 26 players at the home tournament. Nagelsmann must report his final squad to UEFA on June 7th, the day of the last DFB test match before the home tournament in Mönchengladbach against Greece.
