National Coach Vladimir Petkovic Tours Algeria to Assess Local Talent

National coach Vladimir Petkovic and his team have embarked on a tour across Algeria, visiting thirteen clubs so far as part of their assessment of local talent. This tour began in western Algeria with a visit to MC Oran training on April 14 and has since offered the Fennecs coach a diversity of landscapes to discover.

Before finding the Fennecs for the June internship, Petkovic deliberately chose to visit all the clubs in the Professional League in order to assess the level of the players and to get to know them better by attending their training sessions, accompanied by its technical team. Nabil Neghizthe 60-year-old assistant coach, was responsible for facilitating coordination between the national coach and the Algerian clubs.

Although impressed by the technical qualities of the local players, Petkovic did not fail to notice the lack of resources made available to players. He stressed the need for clubs to review their management and encouraged greater effort to improve the level of players, advocating a more professional approach. The national coach also noted the too widespread use of lawns synthetic in club stadiums, particularly for daily training, although he sees this as a major obstacle to player development.

Among the training centers he visited during his tour, Vladimir Petkovic particularly appreciated that of MC Alger, hoping that other clubs will follow suit. Despite sometimes questionable development conditions for the young players, the coach encouraged them to give the best of themselves, reminding that he is there to follow them closely and encouraging them to surpass themselves to deserve a place in National team. He assured that the doors of the national team are open to everyone, without any distinction of name or club.
