EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.- The judokas Robert Florentino, Moira Morillo and Medickson del Orbe participated in the Judo Grand Slam of Qazapstan, Barysy, a competition that distributed points for classification to the Olympic Games in Paris, France, 2024.
Florentino took to the tatami at -90 kilos, while Morilla did so at more than 78 kilos, and Del Orbe at -81 kilos.
The Quisqueyan representation, which made the trip with the support of the Creating Olympic Dreams Group (Creso), was also made up of coach Wilkin Ogando and referee Orlando Cruz.
In the tournament, which concluded this Sunday, Florentino beat Aidar Arapov, from Kazakhstan, in his first fight, and in the second fight he was defeated by Nemanja Majdov, from Serbia.
In another result, Moira defeated Amarantha Urdaneta, from Venezuela, and then lost to China’s Shiyan Xu.
Del Orbe lost its first match and finished in ninth place.
In the Qazapstan Judo Grand Slam, Barysy, organized by the International Judo Federation (IFJ), a total of 450 judokas from 84 countries took part.
