Vechta (dpa) – The MBC Syntainics basketball players said goodbye to this season with a defeat. The Weißenfels team lost their last league game against newly promoted Rasta Vechta on Sunday with 69:98 (29:50). Tanner Groves (20), Wes Iwundu, Ryan Schwieger, Joschka Ferner (12 each) and Spencer Reaves (11) played the biggest role in the hosts’ success. For the Central Germans, only Johnathan Stove (25) and Chris-Ebou Ndow (14) scored in double figures.
The guests slept through the first quarter completely and were behind 10:24 after ten minutes. Vechta dominated the game and had already decided the game at 70:39 (26th). Even before the game it was clear that the Weißenfels team would finish the season in 13th place.
“This is a very good result for us. Congratulations to our boys, the coaches and everyone in the club because we have achieved our goal for the season. Overall it was a good season for us. There is no question that our game wasn’t that good today. But overall we did a good job,” said MBC head coach Predrag Krunic at the end of the season.
