On the initiative of District Administrator Michael Köberle, the District Council has decided to set up the Limburg-Weilburg Future Fund – Strong and Innovative. The aim of the fund is to strengthen the rural regions of the Limburg-Weilburg district with regard to infrastructure and mobility, especially for older people. This also includes support and training in municipal fire protection and the focus on climate protection. The fund consists of a total of five pillars. Pillar A deals with affordable housing and is based on the district’s program running from 2017 to 2020 to build affordable housing with 1.2 million euros per year – i.e. 4.8 million euros in total. After that, one million euros was set aside annually for Pillar A in the budget. Pillar B supports municipal infrastructure, including shared taxis, cycle networks, broadband, revitalization of town centers, renovation of buildings, design measures that are appropriate to the townscape and social facilities (childcare, etc.), with 1.9 million euros annually. 135,000 euros are available for Pillar C, which is intended to support municipal fire protection. 300,000 euros are also available in Pillar D for municipal climate protection and corresponding sustainability projects. The additional Pillar E to support clubs was endowed with 1.75 million euros. (Source: Limburg Weilburg district)
