Ligue 1: OM-Lens replay removed from Prime Video due to homophobic chants heard in the stands

“Victory,” exclaims Rouge Direct! The collective fighting against homophobia in football, which remains vigilant on these issues despite the drastic reduction of its activities following the harassment suffered by its members, celebrated this Thursday morning the withdrawal on the Prime Video platform of the replay of OM-Lens, the closing match of the 31st day of Ligue 1 broadcast this Sunday evening.

The reason ? A homophobic chant, common in the stands of the Vélodrome which adapts it according to the opponent of the evening, heard very distinctly during the retransmission. In this case, this Sunday evening, we could hear the Marseille supporters intoning: “we must kill these f… Lensois, we must kill them, we must kill them”. “That’s impunity, the trivialization of homophobia,” condemned Rouge Direct on X. And violence against LGBT people is rampant. »

This Thursday, it is no longer possible to watch the match again on Prime Video. “Following events advocating hatred, violence or discrimination against a person or group of people because of their origin, their religion, their gender or their sexual orientation, the replay of this match is not available,” informs the platform on the page dedicated to the meeting. Rouge Direct made this request to the Ligue 1 broadcaster publicly, via social networks.

The collective is now awaiting a reaction from the Professional Football League (LFP). “This homophobic chant is proven and OM should logically and in application of the regulations be summoned by the disciplinary committee,” explains the spokesperson for the collective, Julien Pontes. In recent weeks, the collective had denounced several songs of a homophobic nature, notably during the Lille-Lens derby at the end of March.
