Ligue 1: an agreement reached between the LFP and Infront for the marketing of TV rights abroad

The Professional Football League (LFP) may not have found its future broadcaster in France, but the matter is settled abroad. This Tuesday, she signed an agreement with Swiss sports marketing company Infront for the next five seasons.

This exclusive agreement, signed by LFP Media, the League’s commercial company, covers the period 2024-2029. It concerns Ligue 1, Ligue 2 and the Champions Trophy in certain countries in Europe, Asia and Oceania, as Martin Aurenche, media director of LFP Media, explained to AFP.

The amount would have “increased very significantly”

The company Infront has a contract with the LFP. This concerned the marketing of live betting rights abroad for its competitions. The contract amounts to 155 million euros and also covers five years.

Martin Aurenche did not reveal the amount of the new contract linked to TV rights. He nevertheless specified that this had “increased very significantly compared to the current one for the previous period. Infront provides us with a guaranteed minimum on the income generated by the commercialization of these rights, and we share the income beyond this guaranteed minimum. »

Held by BeIN Sports, the annual foreign broadcast rights for Ligue 1 are currently around 80 million euros per year, according to several sources. A few weeks ago, LFP Media also signed a contract with Saran Media for Ligue 1 TV rights in 18 territories in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

The League, however, has still not found broadcasters in France for the period 2024-2029. After an unsuccessful call for tenders in October 2023, it launched into discussions with the main market players and still hopes to obtain rights close to 900 million euros annually, France and abroad combined.
