LeBron James Makes All-NBA 3rd Team for 20th Time in Career: The King’s Astonishing Legacy Continues

Last night LeBron James was named to the All-NBA 3rd Team for the 2023-24 season. A logical distinction as the King still dominates, individually in any case. This is his 20th nomination in 21 seasons, and this stat is literally astonishing.

25.7 points at 54% shooting including 41% from distance, 7.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.3 steals.

Not bad for a 39 year old guy.

This season again, LeBron James has shown that he still has quite a bit under his belt. Already the best scorer in NBA history, in February LBJ became the first man to pass the 40,000 career points mark. Collectively it was more complicated with a qualification for the Playoffs via the play-in and an elimination against the Nuggets, but, individually, the King remains at the top or not far away, proof of this is this new nomination in an All-NBA Team, the… 20th of his career, in… 21 seasons.

Exceptional statistic, LeBron James has only missed the boat once in his career, during his rookie season. Since then he has systematically integrated one of the three typical teams of the season, perhaps the best proof of his incredible longevity at the highest level:

  • All-NBA 1st Team : 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 et 2020
  • All-NBA 2nd Team : 2007 et 2021
  • All-NBA 3rd Team : 2019, 2022, 2023 et 2024

Scary, mind-blowing. MVP in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013, NBA champion in 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2020, LeBron James was also part of the All-NBA Defensive 1st Team five seasons in a row between 2009 and 2013 (All-NBA 2nd Team in 2014), the kind of reign unique in its kind and which may not be over, you realize.

LeBron James continues to write his legend, at an age when, normally, a man is more interested in promos on lawnmowers or the rules of the rummy game. But after all, what is “normal”, especially for LeBron James…
