Laura Siegemund (36) missed her first singles semi-final of the WTA season. The world-class doubles player from Metzingen lost to Viktorija Tomova (Bulgaria) 4:6, 3:6 at the clay court tournament in Rabat/Morocco. Before that, the world number 78 had celebrated victories over the second-seeded Russian Anna Blinkova and Camila Osorio (Colombia).

Siegemund will continue her campaign starting on Sunday at the French Open in Paris, where she will compete in singles and doubles alongside Czech Barbora Krejcikova. She is particularly confident of winning in doubles; Siegemund/Krejcikova were most recently in the final in Madrid, and Siegemund is ranked sixth in the world rankings.
