Jonathan Milan Dominates 4th Stage of Tour of Italy on Ligurian Coast, Offering Italy First Victory of 2024 Edition

The 4th stage of the Tour of Italyarriving Tuesday on the superb Ligurian coast at Andora, has not booked no surprises: the sprinters had the last word and the most powerful among them, Jonathan Milan, offered Italy its first victory in this 2024 edition.

This 4th stage held out his arms to him and the Lidl-Trek sprinter did not miss his chance: the last descent led to a long flat straight line, inevitably promised to a powerful athlete. At 1.93 meters and 84 kg, the one the Italian press nicknamed “Il Gigante di Buja” – the giant from Buja, his hometown – was the favorite at the start. He beat the Australian Kaden Groves (Alpecin) and the German Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain) on the line.

The general classification remains unchanged: Tadej Pogacar (UAE) retains his leader’s pink jersey at the end of these 190 km, contested partially in the rain between Acqui Terme and Andora, still 46 seconds ahead of the Briton Geraint Thomas and 47 over the Colombian Daniel Felipe Martinez.
