– I want to be involved in an English club that wins championships, at the top of the league. And this requires taking risks that can also take you in the opposite direction. I don’t know if this strategy is necessarily correct for Palace. There must be other people a little more patient than me, and perhaps impatience is not necessarily good for Palace – he explained to the website “The Athletic”.

Textor confirmed that the desire to sell Crystal Palace is connected to not being able to acquire a majority stake in the club. Eagle Football currently owns 45% of the English club and is now looking for an ideal investor to buy its share. Another reason would be an internal disagreement over the multi-club model.

– Our intention is to list the company publicly soon. Companies like this do not receive much value from minority stakes, for economic reasons, and their shareholders like to know that their capital is allocated in situations that you can control – he explained.

It is not permitted for the same individual to participate in more than one club in the same division. Because of this, Textor could only buy Everton after completing the sale of Crystal Palace.

Textor believes that, with the deadline for Everton’s purchase agreement with 777 Partners approaching, there would be no time for Eagle Football to purchase the Liverpool club. He also said he had conversations about acquiring teams not only from the Premier League but also from the Championship, the English second division.

– Everton represents the best of English football: the difficulties, the glory, the desire. I love that it’s from outside London. Everyone should want to buy Everton immediately. This type of club is what I’m referring to. How cool would it be to take one of those great English clubs back to glory?
