Jannik Sinner will not compete at the Masters in Rome.

Jannik Sinner was unable to compete in his quarterfinals of the Masters tournament in Madrid against Felix Auger-Aliassime. Hip problems stopped the world number two and made further participation in the Spanish capital impossible.

As the Italian announced on Saturday afternoon, the break will now last longer. Jannik Sinner will also not be able to compete at the ATP Masters in Rome, which begins next week, and will instead concentrate on recovery.

Carlos Alcaraz is also missing in Rome

In addition to Carlos Alcaraz, another top star is missing from the traditional tournament in the Italian capital. The Spaniard canceled his participation in the “Eternal City” on Friday because an arm injury prevented him from playing.

The field in Rome is led by Novak Djokovic, who took a break in Madrid. Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are taking the time off for Rome in order to be able to play again at the following French Open.
