Friday May 24, 2024, from 7 p.m., the Guidel badminton club (Morbihan) is organizing, for the first time, a major regional competition, at night. William Vilain, president of Guided Badminton, is counting on the event to promote the club.
What does this regional tournament represent for the Guidelois club?
This is a first for our sports association. This federal tournament is a great showcase for the promotion of our sport. It will promote our club in the region. This is a project that we have wanted to carry out for several years and the League of Brittany has placed its trust in us. It also constitutes a source of financing for our future actions. In order to be ready and operational, five members of the club had to follow specific two-day training, to be able to be competition manager and organizer (GEO).
Why organize it at night?
This is the original side of the competition, which takes place Friday May 24, 2024, at the Prat Foën sports complex. The tournament will start at 7 p.m. and end around 3 a.m. A room will be dedicated to warming up competitors, women and men, who will compete in mixed doubles or men’s doubles. Another room will host the competition on seven courts, with 126 badists, mainly adults, from unclassified to regional level. Competitors and the public will have the opportunity to eat on site.
Tell us about the club?
Guided Badminton is made up of 103 members aged 16 to 74. This year, the club has formed three teams which compete at the departmental level. During the season, we also organize three internal tournaments for our members. The objective is to play together, to know each other better and to get a taste for competition. In order to allow members to improve their technique, such as serving, doubles play, defense, etc. The club finances thematic courses organized by the departmental committee. We are still looking for a coach for Monday evening classes. Finally, for those who wish to discover badminton, it is possible to try out until the end of September, by subscribing to a summer license.
