Graz 99ers bring in German veteran Holzer

The Moser Medical Graz 99ers announced the next prominent newcomer for the coming season of the win2day ICE Hockey League on Thursday. Long-time German national player Korbinian Holzer strengthens the Graz defense.

“I wanted to look for a new challenge again,” said the 36-year-old defender in a club statement. Holzer was part of the German national team for years and took part in two Olympic Games (2010, 2022) and six World Championships.

From 2013 to 2020, the German played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Anaheim Ducks and Nashville Predators in the National Hockey League (NHL) before moving back to Germany to the Adler Mannheim.

“He gives us the necessary stability in defense and the physical component that we have been looking for lately. “He also brings the experience that we need in such a young defense,” said Graz sports director Philipp Pinter, looking forward to the next prominent names in the team after the Austrian national players Lukas Haudum and Paul Huber.
