Geoffrey Cantin-Arku Signs First Professional Contract with Montreal Alouettes After NFL Mini-Camp

Geoffrey Cantin-Arku’s NFL experience only lasted the duration of a rookie mini-camp, since he has just signed his first professional contract with the Montreal Alouettes.

The club made the announcement Tuesday, during the second day of its training camp held in Saint-Jérôme.

“I think we’re going to see him at camp, I’d like to say a little more, but I think we’re going to see him,” general manager Danny Maciocia told colleague Benoît Rioux on Monday.

The “Als” made Cantin-Arku their first pick (ninth overall) in the last Canadian Football League (CFL) draft. A few days before the auction, the linebacker was invited by the Miami Dolphins to their rookie mini-camp. That probably explains why he was available for the defending Gray Cup champions’ turn.

“I put the Miami Dolphins adventure behind me, I am grateful for the great opportunity I had,” said Cantin-Arku, whose comments were reported in an Alouettes press release.

“I look forward and I am extremely excited to join the Alouettes team. I had a good conversation with Danny Maciocia who has full confidence in me. I’m making a little boy’s dream come true and I can’t wait to put on my new uniform.”
