Fujiyama Judo Club Shines at Southern National Championship in Chile

The Fujiyama Judo Club participated in the recent Southern National Championship in the city of Punta Arenas, represented by 17 athletes. The competition had more than 500 athletes from all over Chile.

The results obtained during three arduous days of competition were:

1 gold medal at the hands of the club’s Sensei, Gustavo Zepeda García in the Master 100 kg category.

7 silver medals

Gustavo Zepeda García, 100 kg. Absolute.

Jazmín Rojas Rodríguez, 57 kg. under 21.

Justin Ledezma Bugueño, 90 kg. under 18

Isabella Alfaro García, 53 kg. sub 15.

Lucas Fuentes Lamb, 53 kg. sub 15.

Deyvi Valenzuela Villalobos, 60 kg. Novice.

Constanza Vega Moraleda, 52 kg novice.

5 bronze medals

Angel Robles Cortes, 90 kg. sub 18.

Justin Ledezma Bugueño, 90 kg. under 21.

Benjamín Rojas Rodríguez, 60 kg. under 18

Fifth national places

Enrique Zepeda Labarca, 66 kg. under 18

Gustavo Zepeda García, Sensei and leader of the Fujiyama club expressed “First of all I want to thank the Municipality of Tierra Amarilla who, in their scholarship program, have this benefit for 7 of our athletes who traveled to this event with this monetary aid, in addition to facilitate the municipal bus for our transfer to the city of Santiago by land and then continue our trip by air. Thank you to the tremendous municipal drivers who are always with the best availability on our trips and are already part of our competition team.”

On the other hand, Zepeda García thanked each family of the club, who supported their children financially and trusted the work carried out by the sports organization, both in the technical team and the board.

The Sensei also thanked the technical team composed of Jazmín Rojas Rodríguez, club delegate, and Isidora Alfaro García, delegate at this event. Also to the club’s Board of Directors, made up of Naila Rodríguez, María Iriarte and Víctor Cortés.

Finally, Zepeda said that the competition is vital, since it is the first federated national event of the year, excellent results were obtained and based on these they can be corrected and improved for the next upcoming competitions.
