Three-time Olympic athletics champion Marie-Jose Perec pulled out the tennis blockbuster from the Coupe de Mousquetaires. Zverev (Hamburg) is number four in the seeding list at Roland Garros, while 14-time title holder Nadal is not among the seeded players after numerous injuries.

Injury drama in the last duel
Zverev (27) and Nadal (37) last faced each other in the semifinals two years ago, when Zverev seriously injured his ankle and had to give up. Nadal then won the title. This year is likely to be the last time the Spaniard will compete in the French Open.
