Frecciarossa Italian Cup 2024 Atalanta – Juventus: the final becomes inclusive with “Connect Me Too”

The inclusive audio description system, developed by CMT Translations, was chosen by the Lega Serie A to make the important football match accessible also to some people with visual disabilities.

The Frecciarossa Italian Cup final, which will be played between Atalanta and Juventus, will have an important impact in terms of inclusiveness and accessibility: the match, scheduled for Wednesday evening (9.00 pm) at the Olympic stadium in Rome, will also be accessible to some fans blind, partially sighted and visually impaired people, involved by the UICI (Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired), Rome section.

It is with the aim of breaking down the differences between people and making the sporting experience live directly at the stadium that the Lega Serie A has also decided to rely on “Connect Me Too”, the integrated audio description system that allows interconnection, also inclusive, among the participants of any event, in this case football.

The service, developed by CMT Translations, is completely digital and travels on the 4G (or 5G) network. Specifically, “Connect Me Too” is able to faithfully report to those who are listening, through a hyper-descriptive report edited by a specially trained professional, not only what happens in

playing pitch but also on the sidelines, on the bench, in the stands and among the fans. In practice, by telling every single detail, it is possible to cross any physical boundary, creating total involvement of the listeners.

The fan who, invited via the UICI in Rome, wants to experience all the emotions that only the live experience can offer is simply required to use their smartphone and headphones/earphones.

«Once again the world of football is mobilizing, demonstrating a strong sensitivity, which is not at all obvious, towards the important issue of visual disability – declares Tony D’Angelo, commercial director of CMT Translations -. Concepts such as participation and inclusion are becoming increasingly established. The involvement of the Lega Serie A is absolutely good for the project, of which we are technological partners and which, thanks to the prestige of the Italian Cup final, will once again gain great relevance.”

The “Connect Me Too” inclusive audio description system has already been used on multiple occasions by Serie A and B clubs (Milan, Inter, Genoa, Lecce, Reggiana) and by the Italian national team, as well as by basketball teams (Pallacanestro Varese and Libertas Livorno).
