The Poles are returning to the world hockey elite after 22 long years. The historic moment also includes players from the extra league, Ostrava will see Paweł Zygmunt from Litvínov and Kamil Walega from Třinec in action. Before the tournament, they played eight duels, of which they won only twice over Hungary.

The Americans will want to atone for their unsuccessful entry into the tournament, in which they lost to Sweden 2:5. Although a team full of players from the NHL played a balanced duel with Severany, they lost only one goal a minute before the end, then conceded twice in a game without a goalkeeper.
The Germans, on the other hand, started the championship victoriously. The defending champions defeated Slovakia 6:4 in a fierce shootout, although they clearly lost on shots on goal (22:39). Yasin Ehliz and Leo Pfoederl scored three points.
Both teams met twice in the last championship. And while the Americans won the group, in the semi-finals the Germans rejoiced at advancing to the fight for the gold.
France – Kazakhstan 1:3
With a goal and an assist, striker Kirill Savitsky participated in Kazakhstan’s victory, and goalkeeper Andrej Šutov made 28 successful saves. The Kazakhs prevailed in the power game as well as in the weakening game.
The entry into the match was ideal for the French. After only 120 seconds of the game, Boudon found Cantagall from behind the goal, who hit the post exactly. But the Kazakhs were able to respond quickly. 66 seconds later, captain Starčenko equalized, driving from behind the goal and surprising Ylönen. In the 6th minute, the French made a bad substitution and the opponent punished them, a second before the end of the power play, Kazakhstan put Muchametov in the lead.

Da Costa was able to equalize at the beginning of the second half, but he did not beat goalkeeper Šutov. Bertrand then hit the post and his next chance was saved by the Kazakhstan goalkeeper.
In the 37th minute, Metalnikov stopped Simonsen only at the cost of a foul, but instead of equalizing, the Kazakhs scored another goal. Savickij easily skated past the Auvitua defender working in the extra-league Vítkovice, went around the goal, and before Ylönen could move to the second post, moved the puck into the goal.
The French tried to dramatize and reduce the match. Tim Bozon was especially active, but Šutov was able to stop all his shots. Not even Bellemare or Gallet made it. Three minutes before the end of the match, France recalled the goalkeeper, but did not add a second goal even in the power play.
