Fiorentina Advances to European Champions League Final after Draw with Club Brugge in Second Leg semi-final

At the Jan Breydel Stadium in Bruges, the hosts took the lead in the 20th minute through Hans Vanaken. A cross from the captain landed in the far corner after Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano was decisively irritated by Maxim De Cuyper. But a converted penalty from Lucas Beltran made the ninth-placed Serie A team celebrate in the 85th minute.

Previously, Nicolas Gonzalez and Beltran (both 23rd) as well as Cristiano Biraghi with a free kick against the crossbar (74th) and Christian Kouame (75th) with a header had missed some top-class chances for coach Vincenzo Italiano’s team. In the 2023 ECL final, Fiorentina lost 1-2 against English club West Ham United.
