A free kick, a corner and then it was over: In the “Royals'” last game of the season on Saturday (May 25, 2024) against Betis Sevilla, Toni Kroos’ time at Real Madrid ended in the 86th minute. Amid a standing ovation and chants of “Toni, Toni” at the Santiago Bernabeu, the 34-year-old was bid farewell from the pitch and received an emotional welcome from his family on the bench.
After ten years in Madrid, Kroos will end his career in the summer. However, he still has the Champions League final with Real on June 1st against Borussia Dortmund and the European Championship with the German national team on his calendar.
Real’s last game in La Liga ended 0-0 against Betis. However, the “Royals” had already been confirmed as Spanish champions.
