Exciting New Features at Roland-Garros: What to Expect This Year

1. A retractable roof for the Suzanne-Lenglen court

For the first year, the Suzanne-Lenglen court will be equipped with a retractable roof. This new roof, which is inspired by the pleated skirt created by fashion designer Jean Patou for champion Suzanne Lenglen, will allow even more matches to be played in bad weather.

2. New furniture on the big courts

The four main courts at Roland-Garros will be equipped with new benches for players and new chairs for referees. This furniture, which uses the traditional colors of Roland-Garros, is made in France and designed in an eco-responsible manner.

3. A junior wheelchair tennis tournament

This year, for the first time, there will be a wheelchair tennis tournament for juniors at Roland-Garros. Until now, there was only a wheelchair tennis tournament for seniors, while there is a junior tournament for able-bodied people.

Eight young athletes, four girls and four boys, will compete in singles and doubles events on June 6 and 7.

4. Digital tickets only

This year, spectators will have to present their tickets via the Roland-Garros mobile application exclusively, and this ticket will also be used inside the stadium to access the courts. There will no longer be paper vouchers distributed at the entrance. This initiative aims to simplify and secure access to the stadium, while reducing the use of paper.

5. Creation of a French tennis alley

A new “Allée du Tennis Français” has been created in the stadium, paying tribute to around 125 players who have left their mark on the history of French tennis.

This course, located between the Village and the Philippe-Chatrier court, will allow spectators to discover or rediscover the exploits of these champions through informative arches.
