Excitement Builds for the Start of the 46th Season of the Puribec Baseball League

Rimouski, May 15, 2024 – After long weeks of waiting, players from the Bas-Saint-Laurent and New Brunswick teams will take the field next weekend for the start of the 46th season of the Puribec Baseball League.

Pitcher duels, races on the trails and home runs more than 300 feet from home plate: this is what awaits baseball fans in the Puribec League which will have eight teams this season.

At a press conference in the modern Puribec facilities in Rimouski, circuit leaders officially launched the activities of the oldest senior baseball league in Quebec today.

As tradition dictates, it is during the Patriots Day long weekend that the smell of hot dogs will be felt for the first time while CIEL-FM in Rivière-du-Loup will receive a visit from Braves Batitech du Témiscouata, this Saturday, May 18 from 2 p.m. All teams will be in action Saturday and Sunday.

A competitive league

“This year, we are particularly excited at the dawn of a season that promises to be very competitive. We are also very proud to welcome back the Kamouraska, Matane and Edmundston teams. Congratulations to all the leaders of these teams who worked very hard to revive the tradition of baseball in the region,” said President Denis Bérubé.

A few weeks ago, the Regional Senior Baseball League announced a five-year extension to its agreement with Puribec. This alliance since 2006 ensures the sustainability of the circuit which is heading towards its 50th anniversary.

“Puribec is a golden partner. They are committed to the development of our young adults who without our league would no longer have options by completing their midget or junior internship. I often say it: we must tip our cap to the leaders of Puribec,” mentions Mr. Bérubé.

This year, a schedule of 22 games is planned in the regular season before the playoffs in August and September.

The Batitech Braves, who are champions of the last playoff series, will have several teams after them while most of the teams have improved during the off-season and the new teams want to show that they can, or will be able to in the future, aspire to the big leagues. honors.

Follow your team

The League invites fans to visit the website at baseballseniorbsl.ca between now and the start of the season to find out more about their favorite team. In addition, the teams regularly publish relevant information on their respective Facebook pages.

Furthermore, the Puribec League continues its technological shift in order to improve the experience of baseball fans in Bas-Saint-Laurent and New Brunswick.

Fans will be able to follow, once again this year, all the games live for free, on their smartphone or tablet, via the IScore platform.

Happy 2024 season everyone!
