All-female cast for the Skin director’s new big screen project.
In the cast of the new film by Oscar-winning director Guy Nattiv, entitled Harmonia, the presence of actresses such as Naomi Watts, Vicky Krieps, Bella Ramsey and Odessa Young have been made official. Inspired by real events, the film is based on the figure of Nattiv’s grandmother and her involvement in a dangerous cult.
As the synopsis states, Harmonia is set in the 1980s and tells the story of Rita (Naomi Watts), a woman who becomes fascinated by a charismatic leader (Vicky Krieps) and gives up her family to embrace the world of the enigmatic commune of Harmonia. Her daughters, Ella (Bella Ramsey) and Jo (Odessa Young), risk everything to infiltrate the cult and bring their mother home. However, once immersed in the common, they find themselves inexorably drawn into the leader’s labyrinthine web of psycho-spiritual manipulation.

My grandmother’s story
Guy Nattiv spoke with great emotion about the Harmonia project:“I waited decades until I was emotionally ready to face my grandmother’s story, which had haunted my family since I was a child. As a woman in the 1980s, facing a midlife crisis, my grandmother made the radical choice to leave the family and immerse oneself in an all-female cult, in an obsessive search for happiness and meaning”.
The director claims that the heart of this film is the real and concrete threat of coercive and manipulative realities by sects with dominant personalities:“I am honored to collaborate on my most personal film with the brilliant Naomi, Vicky, Odetta and Bella, who will bring their extraordinary talents to the terrifying and unique world of Harmonia”.
Awarded with theOscar for best short film in 2019 for the film Skin, which tells the story of racism in the United States of America, Guy Nattiv subsequently made a feature film based on the short starring Jamie Bell in the role of a redeemed Nazi skin. In 2023, he made the film Golda about the character of Gold Meir, played by Helen Mirren.
