Darvin Ham is no longer the coach of the Lakers

It’s now official: Darvin Ham is no longer the coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. The coach of the Californian franchise was fired after an elimination in the first round of the play-offs against Denver (4-1) on Friday, according to ESPN. Arriving in 2022 in the city of Angels, the former assistant coach of the Bucks, champion in 2021, failed to bring this team, built around LeBron James and Anthony Davis, to the NBA title.

A failure for the tactician who was criticized after the three defeats at the start of the series against Denver. Winners of Game 4, the Lakers failed to overcome a significant deficit against the Nuggets, who had already eliminated them last season in the conference finals (4-0).

The Lakers will have to find a new coach in a decisive summer with the vagueness surrounding the future of LeBron James. Several names are circulating to take over from Ham on the bench, such as JJ Reddick or Tyronn Lue, the Clippers coach, according to journalist Jovan Buha.
