Clint Frazier Takes a Chance in Independent League After Stint with White Sox

A former New York Yankees prospect has opted to go to an independent league to see if he has any luck returning to organized baseball. This is Clint Frazier, who in 2023 was with the Chicago White Sox, without much noise.

Steve Adams, of MLB Trade Rumors, was in charge of breaking the news. “The Charleston Dirty Birds of the Atlantic League lost a former major leaguer yesterday when infielder Drew Ellis signed with the Los Angeles Angels, but they quickly filled that roster spot with another, announcing the signing of outfielder Clint Frazier “Adams said.

Frazier, now 29, was the fifth overall pick in the 2013 draft and spent half a decade ranked among baseball’s top prospects. The now Cleveland Guardians sent him to the Bronx for star reliever Andrew Miller in 2016.

The Dirty Birds are an independent team associated with Major League Baseball that plays in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Frazier made his debut in the Major Leagues in 2017 and spent five seasons in New York, with which he left an offensive line of .239/.327/.434, 29 home runs and 97 RBIs. He then went to the Chicago Cubs and in 2023 he was in 33 games with the White Sox.
