The turmoil is far from calming down in the CF Montreal entourage and several of its loyal supporters sent a significant message to the team on Wednesday evening, shortly before the return match of the quarter-final of the Canadian Soccer Championship.

A few minutes before the start of the clash between CF and Forge FC, observers noticed many unoccupied seats in strategic locations at Saputo stadium, as well as rather controversial banners. Moreover, the amateur group 1642MTL, which frequents section 114, decided to remain silent for the entire first half of the game in order to express its dissatisfaction with the club’s recent performances.
“We believe that the entire organization, both on and off the field, has lost grit, the determination which, for years, has been part of the DNA of the Montreal Impact. There grit, this combativeness which leads to victory. There grit, this determination that makes us a competitive team. There gritthis intensity which solidifies the support of its supporters,” wrote the group on its X account.
“A club, players and supporters, all united by the same level of commitment, passion and grit. We will always support the club with all our heart, sweat and tears. It is time for the CF Montreal organization to give us the quality of play that deserves this unwavering support,” added 1642MTL leader Mathieu Charron.

CF delivered an embarrassing performance on Saturday at BMO Field, losing 5-1 to Toronto FC, its arch-rival. Previously, the Montreal team lost twice in a row at home, against Inter Miami CF on May 11 and the Columbus Crew four days later.
The Bleu-Blanc-Noir has escaped its last four games in Major League Soccer and its last triumph dates back to April 13. This is without counting the unexpected departure of sporting director Olivier Renard whose association with the team ended due to differences of opinion earlier this month.
