Celebrating Neuquén Athletes: Ministry Recognizes Achievements in Various Sports

This Wednesday, the Ministry of Human Development, Local Governments and Women entertained Neuquén athletes who represented the province in athletics, swimming, basketball, taekwondo, judo, skating, canoeing, cycling and badminton.

It was recognition for his career and performance. The activity was a breakfast in which 70 people participated and also included family members.

The meeting was headed by Minister Julieta Corroza and took place at the Duam Space, with the participation of Olympic, Paralympic, world, Pan American and South American athletes, as well as those who recently participated in the last edition of the ParaAraucanía Games. , competition aimed at athletes with disabilities.

“We heard here that many times the achievements of people who compete in a discipline are thanks to the support of family and friends and many times not from the State. We are here to change that, we really want to be a State present in the lives of athletes, that provides the same opportunities for everyone,” Corroza said.

The minister explained that “we have been working with the Undersecretary of Disability on an Accessibility Guide, and with clear public policies that determine equality for people, so that people with disabilities are not limited in doing something. We are going to make the commitment so that the new things that are done in the Sports City are with an accessibility perspective.”

For her part, the Secretary of Sports and Youth, María Fernanda Villone, highlighted that “sport has to do with family, with values, it is very important in society. That is why we need to deepen public policies in each of the corners of the province with sports, with culture, with recreation.”

Lautaro Aguilar Tracana, an athlete who participated in the ParaAraucanía Games, celebrated the meeting that brought together “people with and without disabilities” in the same space and recalled that “behind the competitions there is very hard training, in which many things are resigned.” “We prioritize our lives based on sport and being able to tell this makes me very proud,” he noted.

“I want to tell everyone that it is possible. I am 81 years old, I train double shifts and the message is that, it is possible. The only title I needed to win was the Olympic title, then I have won American, South American, Pan American and world titles. “I feel healthy, with enthusiasm,” said prominent cyclist Miguel Ángel Messineo.

The Undersecretary of Sports, Ignacio Russo, members of his work team and coaches, among others, also participated in the activity.
